Self-Love Tips

Here are some amazing tips that I have found useful to encourage self-love and self-esteem...

1) Mirror Gazing - As uncomfortable as this may be for some people it is a worthwhile powerful exercise to carry out on a daily basis and does get easier. Give it a try and I guarantee you will start to feel better about yourself. Start by gazing into a mirror and repeat a positive loving affirmation to yourself. Such as "I love you unconditionally!" or "I am perfect just the way I am!" or "I am a loving being!" Whatever makes you feel good and when saying these affirmations to yourself, say them with emphasis and compassion. You may feel slightly silly at first but each day as you commit to this, you will feel strong loving and healthy feelings for yourself. You can use a different affirmation each day or just start with one that you resonate with the most. You could even write them down first in a self loving journal so that you don't forget them.

2) Do something daily just for YOU! As an example, this could be taking a walk alone or setting aside some time to read. Whatever makes you feel good whilst doing it. You may want to have an extra long bubble bath or listen to a piece of music you love. It can be absolutely anything you like as long as you are committed to doing it just for you. More examples could include; Writing, watching a movie, going to town and buying yourself your favorite hot drink, shopping, meditate, go for a drive. The possibilities are endless! All you have to do is think of things that you love to do and do them. Even if it takes 5 minutes or the whole day, do them for you and you will start to enjoy the little things more that we can take for granted.

3) Smile, Smile, Smile! - "Smile and the world smiles with you!" Now how true is this statement! There have been several occasions when I have been out and about and have noticed that when I smile or am happy, I notice everyone else around me smiling too! Its proven that dopamine, endorphins and serotonin are all released into your bloodstream when smiling, creating a relaxing feeling in your body which lowers your heart rate and blood pressure! Even if you don't feel like smiling, smile anyway and this will be an instant mood lifter in any circumstance! Try it for yourself NOW and put on the biggest grin possible and feel those waves of calm flood through you! You are guaranteed to feel better.

4) Meditate - This can be for ANYONE! I don't care if you understand meditation or not, but my advice and tip is you can meditate anywhere, at any time! All you have to do is focus on your breathing and close your eyes, find a comfortable position to either sit or lay and see what happens! Remember our minds will always try to distract us but as long as you return your focus onto your breathing you are meditating and there are several health benefits which you can look up online. I find using meditation apps such as Pzizz at night really helps me fall into a deep slumber and another app such as Headspace are really great for short, and timed guided meditations to help you further your practice. Meditation is a practice and does require patience and persistence so just keep going because the benefits are extraordinary! You will feel so much calmer and present in your busy day to day lives if you can commit to this daily! Even if its just for a few minutes. Do it for YOU!

5) Write a letter to your younger self! If you could say anything to your younger self knowing what you now know in life, what would you say? What advice might you give them? We all have an inner child who wants to grow and evolve with us. Perhaps you would like to tell them that it's OK to be who they want to be without feeling any sort of guilt or resentment. It might be that you want to say it's OK to be who you want to be in this life without fearing the worst or fearing judgement.
